What to bring

The weather in Iceland can change any minute. It is important that you are prepared for all kind of weather, as it could be warm and sunny or windy and cold. Take a look at the list below and get some ideas of what you need to bring. These are only general guidelines for packing.


  • Your guide/scout uniform
  • T-shirts/long sleeves                                                               
  • Warm sweaters (fleece or wool)                                         
  • Good trousers (Preferably something else than jeans)     
  • Shorts                                                                              
  • Underwear                                                                        
  • Long underwear, wool or fleece                                                         
  • Socks                                                                                                   
  • Woolen socks
  • Hiking boots/rubber boots (water resistant)
  • Sneakers, sandals
  • Cap
  • Hat/beanie
  • Mittens/gloves
  • Warm jacket
  • Rainwear
  • Swimwear
  • Towels


  • Sleeping bag
  • Mattress
  • Tent (talk to your leader)

Personal Hygiene:

  • Toothbrush
  • Toothpaste
  • Deodorant
  • A comb/hairbrush
  • Razors (if applicable)
  • Shampoo/conditioner
  • Soap
  • Sun lotion


  • A scout knife/pocket knife
  • Sunglasses
  • Camera
  • Needle and thread
  • Stationary – a pen and a book to write in
  • Crayons, safety pins etc
